HIV infections
The 4 Strategic Pillars
To ensure a comprehensive approach to addressing HIV in Saskatchewan the strategy is divided into 4 areas:
Saskatchewan has seen a substantial increase in new cases of HIV since 2003. As of 2010, the province has the highest rates in Canada.
Our population of HIV is different from the rest of the country, with the majority of new HIV cases in 2010 predominantly associated with injection drug use.
In response to this growing issue, a Provincial Leadership Team has been put together to implement the Saskatchewan HIV Strategy 2010- 2014. It is the aim of the team to address the issue of HIV/AIDS in the province and work towards building healthier communities.
